Future meetings

Autumn 2024 meeting

Our next meeting will be on Sunday 20th October 2024.

The speaker for this meeting is Alex Summers, who was until recently the curator of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, now working in a National Trust garden. He will give a talk (title to be agreed). The NBGW has a large section devoted to plants from regions with a Mediterranean climate, including a collection of South African bulbs.

Directions to the meeting hall. The doors will open at 10.00, and the meeting will close at about 14.30. SABG members, their guests and visitors are welcome. Admission is £3.00 and parking is free.

    Spring 2024 meeting Our Spring 2024 meeting was on Sunday 24th March 2024. The speaker for this meeting was Timothy Walker. He is a very well known speaker, his lectures renowned for being both informative but also highly entertaining. He was formerly the Director of Oxford Botanic Garden & Harcourt Arboretum, which under his leadership won four gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show. Currently he is a lecturer in Plant Sciences at Oxford University.

Bulb and Seed Exchanges

  • The 2022 autumn ephemeral seed exchange list is available, thanks to its coordinator, Jon Evans. Details have been emailed to members, and can also be read on our 2022 Bulb & Seed Exchange page. The deadline for requests from members for seeds and bulbs from the Exchange is 18th November 2022.
