Southern African Bulb Group

List of suppliers
The following is a list of nurseries and individuals who are able to supply bulbs or seeds
of southern African bulbous plants.
Many of their web sites also provide excellent galleries of photographs.
Please note that we cannot provide advice on any legal restrictions or procedures which may apply when ordering bulbs or seeds from suppliers based in other countries. Information given on this page is believed to be accurate, but we can take no responsibility for any problems which may arise.
UK residents can refer to DEFRA at www.fera.defra.gov.uk/plants/plantHealth/imports/
Except where stated,
inclusion in this list does not imply that we endorse or have tested their services,
but is intended to help you locate suppliers for these plants.
The information may be out of date:
please tell me if you have any comments or corrections to suggest,
if you know of other suppliers,
or if you wish to request that your own details be added to this list.
In addition to the following suppliers,
a number of societies operate seed distribution schemes:
the International Bulb Society, the Indigenous Bulb Association of South Africa,
the Alpine Garden Society and the North American Rock Garden Society
can be productive sources of material.
A formerly useful source, the Botanical Society of South Africa, has withdrawn seed distribution to overseas members.
Purchasing from the Kirstenbosch seed list is still possible but the range of species available is limited.
